Which site is the best to earn money online?
It is not always necessary to spend money in order to make money. There are websites that can assist you if you want to start a side gig to generate a regular part-time income or if you need some quick extra cash.
1 YouTube
Anyone can post nonexplicit videos on pretty much any topic they want on YouTube. It is possible to record a video by simply turning on your computer's camera and pressing the record button. If you enable advertisements on your videos, you can earn between $1 and $3 per 1,000 video views. The more videos you have, the more views you can get, so if you record a lot of videos and build a viewership, this option really pays off.
2 Fiverr
Fiverr is a website where you can earn $5 for almost any service. People post jobs they're willing to do for $5 on the site, such as writing Facebook posts for businesses. Many of the jobs require creative skills, such as graphic design or audio editing, but the tasks are simple enough to complete while sitting on the couch in your spare time.
3 Upwork
How it works: Upwork is essentially a meeting place for businesses and freelancers all over the world to connect and collaborate on specific projects. Businesses hire freelancers for a wide range of services, including writing, web design, SEO campaign management, and pretty much any work that can be done on a computer.
Highlights: Upwork charges a commission ranging from 5% to 20%, but the more money you make, the lower the commission.
Drawbacks: Because Upwork has been so successful, there is a lot of competition on the website, which can be a real disadvantage for people who are new to the site, according to Sacha Darosa, owner of The Shirtless Web Guy, a digital marketing agency in Toronto.
"Before I started my web design business, I set up profiles on sites like Upwork. Because there is so much competition on those platforms, it was difficult to attract any attention from buyers at first. And because so much of my competition came from abroad, it was impossible for me to compete on price."
4 Etsy
How it works: If you're artistic and can make custom jewelry or refrigerator magnets, Etsy is the place to sell your wares.
Highlights: The site is simple to navigate and set up a shop.
Drawbacks: The website has a lot of competition. On the one hand, the branding is strong, and many people are familiar with Etsy. But, as with Upwork and Fiverr, once you put your wares up for sale, you are one of a gazillion people selling stuff on Etsy. It might feel a little overwhelming at first.
5 Skillshare
Skillshare is a website where you can earn money by teaching online classes. You record a series of videos on a topic you're knowledgeable about — popular topics include crafts, film, fashion, and cooking — and then participate in the Skillshare forums related to your class. In exchange, you will receive a percentage of the money collected from those who attend your class. There is no need for a teaching degree to get started, and the site claims that teachers can earn an average of $3,500 per year.
6 Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of the most popular — and legitimate — online survey sites. Swagbucks compensates you for taking part in a consumer survey, which companies then use to determine what kinds of products to manufacture and sell. You can take several surveys per day, and your Swagbucks earnings can be redeemed for gift cards from Amazon, Target, iTunes, and other retailers.
7 Fotolia
Fotolia allows you to sell stock photography photos you've taken. For example, if a publisher is looking for a beach photo and you upload one, the publisher can use Fotolia to purchase the rights to use that photo in its publication, and you will receive a cut of the money. This is a great way for a photography hobbyist to earn a few dollars for some of your best photos.
8 Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing
Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing enables anyone who has self-published a book to upload it to Amazon for sale on Amazon Kindle devices. Assume you've written a novel and want to sell it. You can sell copies of your book and earn up to a 70% return on each sale if you upload it here and then promote it online through social media or blogs.
9 eLance
People in almost any profession can use eLance to find freelance work from home in their spare time. While the projects on eLance won't pay you a lot of money, they are a great way to build an independent portfolio to show off your skills while also building a client network.
10 Mechanical Turk
Amazon manages Mechanical Turk. Anyone can sign up and complete simple tasks for a few cents per task, such as determining which of two images depicts a bridge. With a little practice, you can earn a few dollars per hour while sitting on your couch and watching television. And with enough focus, you can earn roughly the minimum wage.
